All those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and
accept the obligation to serve Him in the life of the Church and
the world are welcome as members of the Methodist Church.
IN THE CHURCH
Members are committed to worship, holy communion, fellowship
and service, prayer and Bible study, and responsible giving.
IN THE WORLD
Members are committed to the working out of their faith in daily
life, the offering of personal service in the community, the
Christian use of their resources, and the support of the Church in
its total world mission.
"...What does the LORD require of you but to do justice,
and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

Mission Statement (Outcome of our work with Graeme Lockhard)
Stirling Methodist Church - our mission statement
"The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the Gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and Mission" - from "Our Calling"
Church Life |
| Worship will be participative, varied and enjoyable. |
| There will be a time of Quiet before worship. |
Church and community |
| We will support campaigns for Fair Trade and Justice and be a Fair-trade organisation ourselves. |
| We want our building to be used as a resource for worthwhile causes by the community – we will be open to considering new possibilities. |
| We will encourage younger members and families to continue to develop their programme of challenging and socialising activities including expeditions. |
Learning and caring |
| We are a thinking, caring, outward looking community. |
| We have many different ideas of growing and learning together. |
| We will be open to try new ideas and approaches. |
Evangelism |
| We recognise we need practice and/or training to help us to improve talking naturally about the Christian faith and our church |
In Practice this means: |
Church Life |
| Establish a rota for those willing to take prayers. |
| Use the prayer request book. |
| Continue to invite a variety of preachers from different traditions. |
| Look at use of prayer/meditative material from a variety of traditions. |
| Ask the congregation to look at their talents and skills and to volunteer/ or be volunteered to contribute. |
| Ensure visiting preachers know this is part of Stirling Methodists' vision. |
Learning and caring |
| We will reflect continuously on what we are doing to see if there are newer or better ways of becoming a more thinking, caring, outward looking community. |
Church and community |
| Stirling Methodist church is playing a leading role in the Fair Trade Propeller in Stirling. |
| Continue support for Start-up. |
| Encourage other groups to use our premises. |
| Discuss with volunteer centre possible uses/low cost conferences etc. |
| Encourage development of use for art groups etc. |
| Church members to think about groups, contacts who might appreciate using the space. |
| If used more frequently need to give some space to practicalities in terms of opening up etc. This requires more work and thought. |
| Encourage the Junior Church leaders to consider possibilities for new activities. |
Evangelism |
| The emphasis on us to develop our skills as individuals, to equip each member as an effective disciple capable of sharing their faith in a variety of ways outside church in life at home, school, work etc. We need to consider the best way to do this. Perhaps an occasional Sunday evening service which focuses on developing these skills. |
